what i've learnt
When I first started blogging I never thought there would be the niche that there is out there. I thought no one would read my blog and no one would care! Oh how all that has changed.
So in saying that I'd like to share some of the things that I learnt/surprised me with blogging so far.
1) Only publish content you are proud of.
It's better to publish nothing than to have something forever on the web.
2) Be consistent.
Having a schedule and keeping to it is super important. Your readers know what to expect and that your blog is still active. Also, don't over promise yourself. If you can't commit to a post every day of the week, then don't! Put out a great post three times a week rather than a crappy post every day.
3) Join in on communities.
I would be lost without the #nzbloggers and #brunchclub community. I've learnt a lot from them and continue too. A year ago I didn't even know that SEO existed!
4) Photo's matter.
Putting 100% into your photo's is important. Working out when you have good lighting and then editing, formatting and uploading all take time but can make a world of difference to your post's.
5) Be active on social media.
Talk to other bloggers, engage in not only what you have to share but also their content. Also, be confident! Back yourself. You are doing this, and remember girl's get catty when they are jealous so if a friend is being a cow then nine times out of ten she's jealous of what you are doing. Social media can be both a battlefield and a blessing, but at the end of the day haters gon' hate.
So to celebrate my first year of blogging I have a $50 clothing voucher from the amazing online store COCO + DAWN. Open internationally. Good luck!
