Today's post is something I'm super excited to share with you. It's from a brand which I'm sure you have heard about called Haakaa. Hakaa is a New Zealand based company and is leading the way in price and innovation when it comes to breast pumps.
Haakaa has just released on Monday the new silicone breast pump* and I've been lucky enough to be sent one.
The new pump is 150mls and comes all together as one piece. There's no fiddling around putting the pump pieces together before you use it or sterilizing multiple small pieces. It also has a suction base on the bottom so you can literally stick it to the coffee table so that you don't accidently knock it over and end up crying over spilled milk (It's a thing. We've all been there!).
No bleach based agents are used on any of Haakaa's products, (which include Milton tablets), so you can rest assured the silicone on your pump will not break down over time or become a dirty yellow colour.
Before you use your Haakaa pump it makes sense to sterilize it and you can do this by either boiling it in a pot of water for 2 - 3 minutes or in the microwave or with steam. There are a few ways to sterilize the pump quickly and effectively which is great when you need to get the pump read in a hurry!
I've found the key to successfully using the Haakaa pump is to make sure you get the right positioning. You need to take some time to find what works for you and make sure you have your nipple in the neck of the pump. Once you have the positioning right apply suction to get your flow going.
Another great thing about Haakaa is that it's pretty much hands free. Once it's suctioned and flowing you can leave it to do its thing. You can use a warm flannel on your breast to help with a let down which will increase the amount of milk you express.
I was able to pump 50mls while I fed for 20 minutes!
Normally it takes me an hour to pump 50mls so while this may not seem like
too much it is an achievement for me.

You can use the pump to help ease engorgement or to collect the milk on your other breast while feeding baby at the same time.
I would defiantly recommend the Haakaa pump. Its easy to use and not as intimidating as putting together a thousand small pieces to a pump . It's perfect for those who have never pumped before and are looking at trying for the first time and also for busy mums who need to still do other things while pumping.
Personally I know this pump works for me because I still need to feed baby and chase around a toddler. I don't have time to sit still attached to a pump and plug for an hour or so each feed.
Haakaa can be brought from their website by clicking here for $29.90 NZD along with a variety of other products. And they ship world wide! You can pre order them from today and they are due to land on the 20th. Stock is limited so get in fast!
Have you heard of Haakaa before? Do you think that this pump would work well for your lifestyle?
Lipstick and love!
