Essential Handbag Item - January

Hi babes!

For this months essential handbag item im going to put my sensible granny pants on and talk about being sun smart! 

Now we all know that it's important to look after your skin, you only get one shell, and it shows the signs of ageing so much! Every bit of sun affects it. 

So i've created some steps to help you stay sun smart. 

Firstly, moisturise your face. You want to ideally be putting on a moisturiser with an SPF of 15 +. This is your first layer of defence against the sun. 

Secondly, you want to make sure your foundation is between SPF 8 and SPF 15. By applying two cosmetic products that have SPF in them creates a solid barrier against UVA and UVB rays. I use Rimmel London's Match Perfection which has an SPF of 18. Its only recently gone up to SPF 18 as it used to be SPF 15.

Thirdly, Apply a setting powder. This does not have to have an SPF in it and provides a barrier alone. Let me put my scientist hat on and tell you why. Ahhh hmmm... So, the teeny tiny talc particles that are in your powder provide a layer of protection on their own. So putting that on top of your foundation just adds another barrier layer. That's not to say you can just throw some powder on your face and think your protected, cause you wont be!

Finally, make sure your lip balm has an SPF of 15 or higher. No one likes cracked, peeling, sore lips so lather them up! 

To summarise, your essential handbag item for January is SUN SMART MAKE UP! I'm not picky as to what your using, as long as its providing protection.
