Having a flawless base of foundation is the key to looking good.
But sometimes it's not what we're using but how were applying it that can make the difference.
Two popular items on the market at the moment are the beauty blender and the real technique brushes.
I'm going to be putting to the test both the beauty blender and stipple brush (as that's my preferred method of foundation application) to see which gives the more flawless coverage and less amount of product.
This little test is not scientific so if your wanting an in depth analysis you need to turn away now.
APPLICATION - my best tip for using the blender is to cover it in water first and then rinse well. I use warm water and cover it completely then squeeze out any excess water until it remains damp.
Using the largest side of the blender I apply my foundation by dabbing it over my face. I find this a little more time consuming than just brushing it on but that's ok. I've used this much product...
If I apply my foundation using a brush and I use the stipple brush as I love how it buffs the foundation into the skin. It glides on easily and with a little buffing takes away any streaks or lines that are made by using the brush. The brush is definitely less time consuming but using a little more product. I did have to pump twice to get my face covered.
I also consider using concealer as an essential for flawless finish. I'll be using this ELF concealer to cover my under eye area.
With the beauty blender I use the smaller side as it easily gets into the corners and doesn't hurt the sensitive part of my eye as I apply it. This blends it all in beautifully! With my brush I pat in the concealer gently. I have chosen to use my same brush that I applied my foundation with as it just gives a little more coverage and uses any left over foundation to conceal as well. I find this doesn't blend as nicely or get into the inner of my eye.
Finished look of the blender :
I did the two comparisons one after the other and used the same lipstick, so I could try and give you similar result's to compare. |
At the end of the day it comes down to personal preference. I much prefer the look of the blender. I think it especially blends the concealer nicely and uses less product.
For those days when I don't have much time however I will still be using my brush. Xx
