Benefits of lipstick

Lipstick. We are all aware of what it is and how to apply it. But just like anything if we look deeper into what it is we can find out some pretty interesting things!! Whether you’re looking to create a full on pout or add just a sheer shine to your lips, every woman must enlist the help of lipstick from time to time. Lipstick is a whole lot more than allowing you to simply look your best; it can help you from the inside out! If I told you that lipstick had medical benefits would you believe me? What about if I told you that by applying even the slightest bit of lipstick you could improve the mood of your whole day? Well i'm here to enlighten you so keep reading.

By applying even just one coat of lipstick can improve your confidence. By applying a powerful colour to your lips, such as red, it can give you confidence to tackle a challenging task you have been attempting.

By wearing lipstick, it will make you appear more confident in a professional setting. In a 2011 study by Procter & Gamble, researches from Harvard and Boston university found that people wearing coloured cosmetics were more confident and reliable. So next time you go for that promotion take a second to run your favourite lippy over your lips.
Lipstick appeals to the opposite sex. From the early days when lipstick was first made from plants it was used as a form of attraction to allure males towards the females. In a more recent (2011) study in France, waitresses that wore red lipstick received higher amounts of tips throughout their shift at a restaurant.
Most lipsticks that are made today have a moisturising element to them. These can include Vitamin E and Aloe Vera. Older lipsticks may not have moisturiser in them but companies are now aware of the fact that a lipstick needs to be hydrating if it is to sit on your lips for a few hours!
Lipsticks have a form of sunscreen in them. Even from as early as the 20th Century, pharmacist's and fashion designers recognised that some form of sun protection on your lips was important. Nearly all lipsticks will have an SPF of 12+ in them. They also now have active agents in them which can help protect you from sun and wind damage and other anti ageing effects.
And lastly it has been shown through several studies that women who wear lipstick feel better about themselves, therefore have better posture by acting more confidently and standing tall.

More importantly you should wear lipstick to benefit the most important person...YOU! Weather your having a down day and you  need a pick me up or you want to feel powerful in a meeting. The best thing about lipstick is its affordable and can easily be placed in your handbag and applied in a flash.

Until next time,
