One Summer In Venice Book Review

I know we should never judge a book by its cover but when I saw the cover of One Summer In Venice* I couldn't help but think that this was exactly the sort of book I needed to unwind with. 

One Summer In Venice by Nicky Pellegrino is a novel where Addolorata (Dolly) is on the hunt for that missing thing in her life. She has it pretty good by owning her own business, husband and a child but still doesn't feel complete. So she head's to Venice to find it.

After a few speed bumps in Dolly's life, such as her husband suggesting time apart, Dolly decides it is a good idea to stay in Venice for the duration of the summer. She starts to meet some of the locals, such as a flamboyant lady named Coco who introduces her to other locals and their way of life.

After making a list of what she is after in her quest for happiness, she starts to fit in more and get to know the local's. This part of the book reminded me some what of eat, pray love. To me it is a similar concept and theme of the two books.

Dolly and her new found friend Coco, go on to have many adventures for along the way in Dolly's quest for happiness. There is something mysterious about Coco and that made Dolly want to find out more about her later and get to know more layers and depth to her and that made me want to keep digging for more of Coco's stories and not put the book down.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book as it painted a beautiful picture of Venice. It taught me about the people, the way of life over there and their love for cooking. It has definately been put on my list of places to visit in the next ten years and if it is as beautiful in real life as the book says, im in for a treat!

This was the first of Nicky's book's I have read I am now interested to check out more of Nicky's books. One summer in Venice can be picked up here through fishpond or through all good book stores.
