BLOGMAS // Christmas Traditions

Hey baby flowers!

Welcome back to blogmas with Lipstick and Bubbles - woo!

Christmas traditions are something that I think are super important. They will carry on through your kids for generations and generations.

Some of our family traditions include -

Visiting the houses that are decorated with lights. We always use to drive around town with all of my family and see what was out there. I loved with when people were outside their house interacting with their guests too. People always had lollie's for the children and even at 18 I used to look forward to visiting the beautifully decorated houses. If you don't know where any are you can check them out by visiting this website here.

If your in Christchurch, make sure you visit shands road. From the first of december they allow visiters and it is definately one of the best displays in New Zealand. You can check out a clip here and look out for my upcoming vlog from when we visit it it this year. The people do an extrodinary job and its $2 for people over the age of 2 with all proceeds going to charity.

Christmas Eve was a time for treats. We always used to have a BBQ at my uncles house and ethose who were old enough to or mature enough to, were given a shandy. For those who don't know what a shandy is it is half beer and half lemonade. As a teenager this was pretty cool when your dad made you a shandy!

Now that I have my own family, we have kept those traditions alive but we have also added a couple.

A Christmas Eve Box is something I place under the tree for my son. In it I include a chocolate, a christmas movie that can be watched on Christmas Eve, some christmas themed PJ's or a pillowcase, some sticker's and a snow globe. They are all individually wrapped in the box and it makes it so exciting to get to open a present before christmas day.

Building a gingerbread house is something fun to do with kids. They love to eat the lollies along the way and play christmas carol's while were building it. It doesn't matter if it doesn't work out! Check out this idea to just place a dinosaur in it so it looks like the dinosaur has destroyed it (parenting hack!). Perfect idea to include the dinosaur if you have little boys anyway!

As a mum, I think it's important to reflect on the year and also what your child has developed and learnt. We don't always get time to record these things and sometimes we miss milestones because hey, life is busy and were not perfect. So take two minutes and write your child a letter. Include things like what they have asked Santa for and what they have achieved that year. Keep them in a box so you can show them when they have kids of their own.

I could go on for longer but i'll leave it here. What are some traditions you have in your family?
