Morning beauties!
Getting married is such a happy occasion and i'm sure you have watched the show 'Say Yes To The Dress' and have seen how much fun dress shopping can (and should!) be. After the stress of organising everything about the big day, dress shopping should be a fun experience for you and your closest friends. Dresses these days range in price from anywhere between $1000 and can go up to around $6000. However there are a few tricks that I have learnt since working in bridal that I want to share with you when it comes to finding the perfect dress.
Do your research first.
The biggest point I can make is make sure you research or at least know what type of dress you want before you start hunting around. It can be quite overwhelming when you walk into a store and are bombarded with hundreds of dresses which are all different textures, lengths and style's so if you know what style or style's you would like to try then at least that gives the consultant a starting point.
Accessorising is key.
Quite often when your looking for a wedding dress the more detail your dress has the more it will cost. If you have always thought of having a dress with a lot of bling on it why not try a classic dress on with a sparkly belt? Or did you dream of having a lace wedding gown but cant find the perfect one? Then have a look at the bolero's the store has. You can accessorise your dress with so many different things weather it is a pop of colour or a fur coat, play around to make your dress your own.
Scout out the sale rack first.
Quite often bridal stores will have last season's gown's that are discounted in the hope of getting rid of them quickly. These dresses normally only come in the size on the rack and can't be ordered in but you will likely score yourself a bargain. Other bridal boutiques sometimes have mid year sales and so they can also be a great thing to check out if you are on a tight budget.
Re purpose your purchase
Try and find different uses for your wedding purchases after the big day. Your shoes could be reused for other occasions, a clutch that you kept your small jewellery in could also be used or even the little head piece of your's can also be used again. Try see the bigger picture when your purchasing all these little things and think what you could use the item for again soon!
What was the best advice you were given when dress shopping that you would pass on to other bride to be's?
