Breastfeeding is thirsty work - there's no questioning that.
We all know the benefits of breastfeeding for our baby but I'm a firm believer that there is no right or wrong when it comes to providing nutrition for your baby weather it's in the form of formula or breast milk .
Every time I begin feeding my first thought us how thirsty I am. It's the worst when you sit down to feed for an hour and don't have a drink or the TV remote near by. So I thought I'd share with you what I consider to be my essentials .
Ovi Hydration Drink
This is currently one of my favourite drinks. It's super hydrating and it tastes good. While I also drink alot of water which you will see below, it's nice to have something else available that will re hydrate you and taste good at the same time.
Water bottle
I've snuck this one out of my son's kindergarten bag because it's so big and the water comes out easily. I probably go through this entire bottle with each feed and then one in between feeds. I find night time to be when I get the most thirsty during feeding for some odd reason!
Lansinoh ointment
This small purple tube will become your ultimate life saver. When you first start feeding you will get an initial 10 seconds of pain which then fades however it is easy for your nipples to become tender and sore. If baby has a bad latch it will also hurt a week hit so Lansinoh will offer some relief. The tubes are small and expensive (I think this was around $20) but it helps a lot and a little goes along way.
Frooze balls
Breastfeeding does help you loose weight but no one tells you that it also makes you hungry at the same time. Instead of bingeing on unhealthy snacks I've started snacking on bliss ball type things. They are filled with things like cacao and nuts and also come in a variety of flavors.
