Good morning butter cup!
Blogging is something that is hard work. It's a relatively new concept in New Zealand and a lot of people aren't too sure what it is. Some people look at it as creative writing and others look at it as journal ling. I like to describe it as something similar to an online magazine. We receive product's, research theories and facts and display them in a way that is unique to our brand.
It's a lot of long hours. Writing the posts, taking photo's, editing photo's, formatting our post's and then all of the SEO and promoting it on Social Media.
For a long time I never told anyone about my blog and I didn't push it. Because i'm not a qualified journalist or makeup artist so I thought that I was just another person with an opinion. But now I am proud of my blog and how far it has come since my first post two years ago. If your struggling with promoting yourself too as a blogger here are some things to help with realizing how great your blog is.
Think About Why You Began
When you ask a blogger why they began blogging they will each have a different answer. However, I can guarantee you that it wasn't because you wanted free makeup, high stats or the negativity that can come with blogging.
Sometime's it's easy to get caught up in competing with other blogger's and gurus out there and you will get stuck in a negative cobweb. Sometimes all it takes for us to be a little proud of ourselves is seeing how far we have come since the beginning and remembering why we started.
Remember Your Achievements
Achievements should be celebrated weather its big or small. If you have been working hard over the last month to increase engagement on Instagram and it's worked then celebrate it.
Have you been noticed by a major brand or a brand you love lately? Has a new PR company started sending you press releases? These are all things to be happy and proud about.
Think About The New Skill's You Have Learnt.
I bet that when you first started blogging the thought of doing everything yourself was overwhelming, right? It seem's silly now but in my first post's I was afraid to take my own photo's. I finally took the leap, did an online course, learnt about lighting and started to do it myself. Some times I don't get it right and the photo's aren't great but other times they are.
Also think about all the skills you have gained through coding and social media. You are probably a hundred time more confident in these area's now compared to when you first started posting.
I hope you have enjoyed today's post and it's helped you to realize that being a blogger isn't a bad thing. Sometimes all it takes is one person who is a blogger to give us a bad name in the media but when we explain and be proud of what we do then we can inform people together.
I'm still not 100% proud of my blog but i'm working on it and have come along way since the beginning!
What are you most proud of as a blogger?
Lipstick and love!
