Hellooo beauties!
We; we are well and truly in the middle of wedding season and if your anything like us you will have weddings every weekend for the coming month.
As a guest to a wedding you have the fun task of deciding what to wear.
Although times and traditions may have changed, the one that still seems to be lingering on everybody's mind is if it is ever OK to wear white to a wedding.
The bride's dress is always the main attraction at a wedding. But the question remains if a guest where's white, are they stealing the brides show? |
Back in the day, it used to be taboo to wear black to a wedding because it was believed to bring bad luck upon the couple. However times have changed and now it's frowned upon to wear white to a wedding.
The reason for this is that it's the brides special day and you don't want to show her up.
Some weddings decide to have a theme and if the theme of the day is white, then all guests should that colour (Ala Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphreys).
If the theme of the wedding is super laid back and you know that the bride herself is relaxed about the whole situation then again you may be able to get away with wearing white.
But I think it's safer to err on the side of caution.
Let's be honest though, it's one day a year that you need to steer clear of a white dress. A lot of dresses now have a white base colour with floral patterns and I too would stay away from dresses like these.
There are other alternatives to white you could wear are nude, cream of even a soft tan.
This champagne coloured outfit is a nice alternative to white/ivory. |
I would love to hear your views on this topic. Have you been married and didn't mind if your guests wore white? Or are you more traditional and would rather your guests not wear white out of courtesy?
Lipstick and love! x
