Before I became a mum I was adamant of the type of mother I would be.
I would always find time to shower. I would always go out for coffee's. I would always have makeup on every day and baby would learn to sleep through the night by six weeks old. There would be no TV on while the kids are awake and should it need to be on they would watch Baby Einstein.
Baby food was going to be homemade and organic and I would be practising yoga at least three times a week.
Childless bitch? Yeah that was me.
As it turns out, I am THAT mum
I am on day three of dry shampoo and haven't had to shower yet so that's a win.
If I was given the chance to Netflix and chill in my pyjamas I would take the opportunity to put my pj's back on and hang out with my partner after the kids are in bed.
Baby food is store brought and every now and again my son's have a couple lollies. I'll happily feed the boys a pancake or two if it means I get to finish my coffee while it's hot.
My boys watch TV. Sometimes mama needs a break for five minutes from chasing them around the backyard. I'm not ashamed to say that my one year old sing's the Paw Patrol theme song and its pretty bloody cute.

Before I had kids I was naive and wrong with what kind of mother I thought I would be. More importantly I was wrong and judged those who were mothering around me. I was wrong to roll my eyes at the toddler having a meltdown in the supermarket because he couldn't have a chocolate bar and I was wrong to use the line "when I have kids...." and offer my unsolicited parenting advice.
Never should anyone who doesn't have kids think they have the knowledge to raise 'perfect kids'. Offer advice or try to help, totally! But not think they know best.
Tonight I raise my glass to those of us who are going through the motions of mother hood. It's definitely the toughest hood I've ever been through!
