Christmas is fast approaching and it can be stressful buying gifts for everyone. What's almost harder than actually buying gifts is working out what people would actually like as a gift. For those that are into nails and beauty you may be thinking along the lines of nail polishes for them. But have you ever wondered what Jamberry is like?
I'll be honest, I don't like the way Jamberry is marketed. I get at least one email every week from an independent Jamberry wrap consultant from across the world asking me to purchase their product and then review it. They have seemed to subside a little now but I bet we all know at least one person who sells Jamberry.
When I was contacted by the PR company for Jamberry (as opposed to an individual consultant) who offered to send the entire kit for me to try, I thought this was the perfect opportunity to do so with no middle man that needed to be involved.
When I say they offered to send everything you needed in the Jamberry kit, I mean I was lucky enough to get EVERYTHING. Even scissors.
The kit that I was sent includes nail prep wipes, nail buffer, nail sticks (sorry i'm unfamiliar with the technical name for these but they push back your cuticles prior to application of the wrap),nail clippers, nail scissors, a little tool to smooth the nail wrap onto the nail and a mini heater - more on the heater later.
Currently Jamberry have Christmas themed wraps available and I was sent 44A6 - Silver Frost, 5G64 - Snow Day,42A2- Light It Up and 3J48 Christmas Socks.
One sheet comes with 19 sized nail wraps. The first sheet I used was the Snow Day one and I had two different patterns on that one sheet. Each sized sticker is cut in half so you get two finger nails done with the one sticker. I found that there was a great range of sizing's with the stickers it was just a case of finding which one's fitted best on my fingernail.
Application of the wraps was a little fiddly and time consuming. Finding the one that was best, cutting, heating, applying, smoothing then filing down can take a while. You can't really rush the process as you want to make sure that the wraps have been heated for long enough and that you have smoothed any line's out that the wrap has.
As a mum, I was only able to do one hand in between housework and a newborn before I had to do kindy pick up and then finished the other hand at 10pm once the kids were in bed.
Once the wraps were on they were great. Again, I learnt pretty quickly that I couldn't rush the process and after I had put on some of the wraps one nail came loose in the bath. Luckily the sheet allows extra in case they do fall off. The rest of the nails stuck on pretty well and I actually got around 2 weeks wear out of them.
The Christmas themed wraps are also very cute. I love the ones that you can see on my nails above, and my son was also rocking the wee snowmen!
When you consider the fact these pattern's don't chip like a normal polish and they have such fun detail on the design's I think they are a good investment - even if you need a bit of time to do the actual application. It's also totally safe for your kids if they would like a fun nail sticker too. I would definitely prefer applying a nail wrap to my kids nails over polish. No nail polish fumes are great!
I don't think that you need to purchase the entire Jamebrry kit though to be able to do these nails. I have heard that a hairdryer works well for heating the wraps instead of a heater. However, the heater is the only thing I would recommend buying . It is fantastic.
You plug it in. Turn, it on and it heats instantly. It takes about three seconds for your wrap to be ready to apply. It's safe, quick and convenient.
So over all what did I think of Jamberry? If you can make time to sit and apply these properly then do it. Because they will last a long time with no chipping. And buy the Jamberry heater. Its worth it. Will I be purchasing more nail wraps in the future? Yes! The cute little designs and nail art will save me a fortune rather than going to someone to do each nail individually.
Have you used Jamberry before? What are your thoughts on the company?
