Caitlyn Jenner Book Review

Good morning beautiful readers!

Quick question - what do Caitlyn Jenner and Donald Trump have in common? The fact that they are two of the most controversial public figures in the world at the moment.

It has been talked and talked about and finally Caitlyn Jenner has released her tell all book. You have seen Kris' reaction to it along with all the other Kardashian members on their television show and now im here to give you my two scents on her book. So buckle up.

The book describes itself as 'filled with incredibly personal and moving stories of struggle, victory, anxiety and fear, and, finally, of surrender and acceptance.' So that is a lot of emotions to go through in a  book!

In the prologue of the book Caitlyn states how Transgender guidelines suggest a persons former name should never be used. However Caitlyn goes against that with a good portion of the book referring to her former self as Bruce.

Personal photos in the book.

The beginning of the book is all about Bruce as the hero. The Olympian, definition of masculinity and 100% authentic american man. His public speaking business is brought up and how he is like a broken record. Just repeating it day after day. He talks about being considered 'the world's greatest athlete' (settle down Bruce! wouldn't go that far!) and how he goes to bed with frustration and shame yet wakes up exactly the same.
The book moves on to talk about Caitlyn's ESPY award and how a sports commentator stated he felt that awarding the Arthur Ashe Award to Caitlyn Jenner is just ' a crass exploitation play'.It talks about the award being a sports award and that his statement is not again Jenner personally, but more against those who chose the recipient.

Caitlyn talks about how she has undergone gender reassignment surgery along with a list of maaaany other surgeries or hormone treatments.

Bruce talks about his first marriage to Chrystie and how 'shocked' she was when she discovered his gender issues in their first year of marriage. Chrystie promised to keep Bruce's secrets as she was just touched that he chose to confide deeply to her. However, something like that is alot to take in - even though Chrystie claims it wasn't the reason for their split.

Further in the book Bruce mentions explaining everything to his second wife Linda. Linda tries to understand the news that Bruce struggles with gender identity and identifies more with females so they visit a therapist. Unfortunately its all too much and when Linda fly's to New York to meet Bruce and try save their marriage, Bruce opens the door in full dress, wig and makeup. Needles to say their marriage is over - especially with the confrontation Linda has when she knocks on her husbands door.

Bruce touches on Kris Jenner and the Kardashians and im sure you have seen many articles online allready about his controversial claims so im not going to go into it too much. But soem points I want to make are that Caitlyn claims part of dating Kris Jenner in the beginning was all part of finding 'cover' for rumours that were starting to come to light about Bruce wearing women's clothing. She also talks about 'deliberately excluding' the Kardashian's from her 20/20 tell all interview and spelling her name with a C and not a K.

So. My opinion on Bruce / Caitlyn is irrelevant to this review.

The way the book is written confuses me. We jump from talking about high school and going skiing to visiting Transgender families. Then in the next chapter were straight back to Bruce giving a speech and sneaking around in Vegas. Im not a fan at the way it's written and at times I found all the talk about Bruce and his athletics a wee bit boring. I really only wanted to read the juicy bits on the Kardashian's which he delivered. However, he has so many negative things to say about them yet any publicity is good publicity right? So hes fueling their fire.

If you do have gender issues or think you might be transgender then I strongly encourage you to confide in a close friend, parent or even your local GP who can refer you to someone to help you come to terms with how you can live your best life possible.

I'd recommend this book to anyone interested in hearing about the OJ case, the Kardashian gossip or people who can identify with the gender struggle Bruce goes through.

Id love to know your thoughts on the whole situation below. Let me know if this book is on your list to read this winter!
