Hey mamas!
If you would have asked me six or seven years ago if I was looking forward to winter the answer would have been yes. The winter fashion, coats and boots, the long snuggly nights watching Netflix and bingeing on my favourite comfort foods had my name written all over it!
But that was before I had kids.
Before I knew the struggles of being out the door at kindergarten in -3 degree weather.
Winter has been long and hard as it always has. The need to wear five or six layers just to be able to feel your toes takes its toll day after day. The endless amount of washing that you can never catch up on. But let’s not mention the viruses that pass on to other children just by what feels like being looked at by another child. My doctor said to me last year that the sickest years of our lives are our child’s pre school years and my god was she right.
But spring is here! Which means we get more hours in the day. The sun comes up a little earlier and the birds start chirping as you wake up. Even if spring is still cold with a few wet days they are almost always followed by one or two beautiful summer-ish days which makes it more forgiving.
As the holidays approach there is a sense of optimism amongst parents at school pick up. These holidays will be ok because we will have days with no rain. Trips to the park are easy and parenting is generally easier when kids are outside.
So spring - we’re ready for you!
